Wine Description

Norbert Barth’s Erstes Gewächs (First Growth) is characterized by abundant minerality and bright acidity. A ripe lime and grapefruit nose of fresh orchard fruit and a long, sticky finish that leaves you thirsty for more!

The Erste Lage in Hattenheimer Hassel faces south towards the Rhine river and is sloped at 20-25%. It is protected from wind and retains heat better than the surrounding area. A true picture of Rheingau terroir with racy structure and tremendous length.

Cuisine: Pork tenderloin, grilled, broiled or baked fish, as well as poultry, veal, game and lamb dishes in light sauce.

Wine Spectator: 89 pts

An elegant style, with pear and melon notes accented by spice and piquant acidity. Everything is in the right proportion and accessible. Drink now through 2015. – BS
