Medium gold with copper reflections. This Burgundian style white opens up with Bosch pear, ripe tangerine, crushed nutmeg, cinnamon stick, and toasted crème brulée. On the palate this complex wine shows a unique minerality complimented by rich stone fruits and baking spices.
This wine is produced with 100% estate grown chardonnay and spends 10 months in French oak barrels, 20% new. This bottling comes from 48 - 34 year old vines. The vines yield tiny berries that contribute intensity and structure to the wine. The age of the vines gives the 2016 Chalone Chardonnay its intense flavor, quality and allows for some aging potential.
Pairings: Pair this Chardonnay with creamy lobster mac and cheese topped with crunchy, golden bread crumbs.
