Saint-Veran is a region in Burgundy's Maconnais region, focusingon Chardonnay production in the land that surrounds Pouilly-Fuisse. Though there are no Grand Cru vineyards this far south in Burgundy, Saint-Veran has become an increasingly important Village of production as high-quality winemakers look for affordable land to make wines of value.
This wine comes from 40 year old Chardonnay vines, hand harvested and fermented in stainless steel before transfer to neutral barrel for lees contact to give it a bit of weight and complexity.
Full of ripe and baked yellow apple, meyer lemon, and jasmine blossoms, there is a nutty, creamy component to the wine as well. Easy drinking without being simple, this is a great bottle with oily fish, hard cheeses, or a Wednesday evening!
