With a delicate nose and a great structured body, Gutzler has produced an amazing Auslese with complex tropical fruits and great mineral quality. Gerhard Gutzler’s passion for viticulture finds its culmination in this Riesling Auslese, made from hand-selected single berries. The color is a rich medium gold with a subtle nose of peach and orange blossom. On the palate it is full bodied with melon, mango, and honey. With great mineral quality and 11% alc. this is a top notch food pairing Auslese! Unlike many other Auslese and noble sweet wines, this one comes in a 750ml bottle.
Pairings: Ethnic cuisine like Thai, Indian, Chinese and spicy dishes, also strong blue and hard cheeses!
Reviews: Wine Spectator: 90 pts A vibrant edge defines the apricot, peach and mango flavors in this plump, rich Riesling. Good but not great length. Should develop on the earlier side. Drink now through 2028. – BS
The Gutzler Estate is located in the wine-producing community of Gundheim in the hilly southern part of Rheinhessen. Run today by Gerhard Gutzler and his son Michael, the winery has been in family ownership for generations, originally producing a variety of agricultural products including wine.
When senior vintner Gerhard Gutzler picked up the business from his father in 1985, he dedicated his passion solely to the vineyards and the wine, also adding a small champagne manufacturing facility, where sparkling wine is fermented according to the traditional method developed in the Champagne region of France.

Rheinhessen is known as Germany’s largest wine producing region. Nestled between rolling hills, bordered to the west by the Nahe River and to the northeast by the Rhine, it is a very fertile land. Unlike along the Rhine or the Mosel, many other crops are harvested here in addition to the many vineyards that cover approximately 20% of the area. The better vineyard sites are in a concentrated area along the steep west bank of the Rhine, known as the Rheinterrasse (Rhine terrace), and towards the south near the town of Worms and around the village of Westhofen.
