Vouvray is a white wine made from Chenin Blanc grapes grown in the Loire Valley in northern France. This region produces the world's finest examples of Chenin Blanc and has been cultivating this grape almost exclusively for centuries. Chenin Blanc is one of the 9 noble white wine varietals and for good reason, it has great importance in its history and Vouvray is where you want to look for French Chenin. Known for its depth, complexity, age-ability and capability with food, Chenin Blanc can range in style from dry to sweet and still to sparkling. Vouvray is known for delicate floral aromas and edgy acidity that will remind you of biting into a crisp Golden Delicious apple and make you long for another sip
Marie de Beauregard Vouvray showcases a fantastic balance of acidity and residual sugar (RS). This semi-dry wine comes from the Pineau de la Loire varietal and has delicate wooded overtones. The usual linden and honeysuckle fragrances are finely shaded by a backbone of wet river stone flavors.
Pairings: Sauteed fish, salads (especially with apples), Chinese food and other ethnic (spicy) cuisine
Wine Spectator: 92 Points Juicy and ripe, with inviting pear, quince and fig flavors laced with light ginger and honeysuckle notes. Shows a flash of hazelnut through the finish. On the hedonistic side, but has the freshness for balance. Drink now through 2024.
