Les Chaumes is a tiny parcel of land located in the village of Chassagne-Montrachet, in the Côte de Beaune of Burgundy. Althought Chassagne-Montrachet is better known for white wine (75% of the vineyards there are planted to Chardonnay), this small section has been planted to Pinot Noir for hundreds of years. Les Chaumes is known for producing elegant reds with dark fruit, structure and ageability, at a more value-driven price than Premier Cru vineyards. The vineyard is located near the bottom of the Chassagne-Montrachet slope, with soils that are a mixture of the sand and clay that Burgundy is know for.
This biodynamically-produced wine exhibits dark
red fruits – black cherry, rhubarb, and cola, with plenty of depth and
structure.. A French Pinot Noir with enough weight to satisfy, while still
being lithe and supple.
