In the glass, the wine is a pale ruby. Complex and persistent aromas mark the nose with notes of wild raspberries, cherry, spices, dried herbs, and tomato leaf. On the palate the wine is well-structured, elegant, round and smooth with notes of wild red berries finished off with soft tannins.
Many Classicos are today made of 100% Sangiovese but can include up to 20% of other approved varieties grown within the Classico borders. The 2016 Piccini Chianti Classico is a blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot. The wine spends 9 months in oak and is a classic example of Chianti Classico!
