The Sybel rose is sourced from steeply terraced vineyards in Cuilleron's home-base town of Chavanay, which just south of Condrieu, best know as the home of white wines based on the Viogner grape. For this reason, the rose must be declassified to the Vin de Pays region of "Collines Rhodaniennes." The Cuilleron family has made a name for themselves as masters both of Viogner and Syrah, the hallmark grapes of the northern Rhone. This 100% Syrah rose is made using the Saigne method, spending just several hours in contact with the skins before drawing off the deeply colored juice.
This dry rose is full of fresh strawberry and cassis fruit, but the character of the Syrah manifests itself as well, with a rustic, herbaceous character that adds some lift to the wine.
